Bill and Dave at Sugar Bowl, Lake Tahoe
Snow capped hills surrounding Sunnyvale |
Another month, another photo of Bill at Tahoe! This was in early February and we took 8 hours to drive instead of the usual 4hours. It took 3hrs to cover 60 miles as it was very slow due to the chain control (basically a checkpoint to check al cars are either 4WD or have chains on). We got in at 3.30am and Bill and friends were up at 7.30am to go skiing. I decided to sleep! However, all the new snow meant happy skiers! March has been a cold month so far. Cold fronts from Alaska means lots of dry powdery snow for skiing. Even in the valley, there's been snow on the highest hills. The road to Santa Cruz has been closed and the road to Mount Hamilton (4,000ft). Hail storms in San Jose. It never gets below 40F during the day so it is very unusual for snow to form in the valley.
