At Thanksgiving, we drove to Calistoga for a couple of nights which is 2.5 hrs away. We took our bikes and visited some wineries as well as hiking up Mt St Helena. Mt St Helena is part of the Robert Louis Stevenson State Park and is where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Silverado Squatters while he was honeymooning in an abandoned miner's hut in 1880. There's only a small memorial but the main attraction is the five-mile hike to the top of Mt. St. Helena from which you can see much of the Bay Area. The peak is 4,300ft although you start the hike at 2,000 ft. We didn't make it all the way but still got good views of the valley and we also stopped to watch some rock climbers. At Christmas we're going to drive south and spend time at San Luis Obispo and Ventura. STOP_PRESS I passed my Film & TV History exam so now have a Bachelor of Arts. However, going to start another course (Renaissance Art) in February which will give me an Honours.
