Las Vegas

September 2001

What a place!  From the plane it's so BRIGHT!  Me and Judith stayed at the Luxor which is nothing like the real Luxor!  For a start there's no pyramid in Luxor, Egypt!  You enter from the car park straight into the casino - it was really difficult to find the reception!  The casino, restaurants and some rooms are housed inside a HUGE black glassed pyramid.  You travel in an "inclinator" lift to your room which is all done out Egyptian style.  We were impressed but found other hotels which were more elaborate in their styling like New York, New York.
Some of the hotels are linked by monorails but we nevertheless did a lot of walking and still didn't see it all.  Each hotel is a theme park and they out do each other in their details.  We loved the Venezia watching people having gondola rides under a dusk sky (it was pitch black outside!), we loved the conservatory and the water fountains at the Bellagio, the lion cubs at the MGM, the pirate battle at Treasure Island, and a brilliant buffet lunch at Paris (the most tastefully done hotel).
