Kurashiki

13th October

Hiroshima to Kurashiki 177km

Kurashiki has a large Impressionist collection and since it was also an old merchant town with surviving buildings, we made an overnight stay on our way to Hakone.  Our hotel the Dormy which is a chain, was opposite the entrance to the old part of town so was better than I had expected.  It was brand new and our room was huge.  It also had separate men and women public baths on the top floor.

Kurashiki is popular with Japanese tourists and the place was crawling with people by mid-afternoon.  It's very picturesque and at night with the tourists gone it's very pleasant to walk around.
