Grenada

Another old British colony that gained independence in 1974.  Famous for the American 'invasion' in 1983.  We sailed into St George's. Because of lack of time, we hired a taxi to take us around some of the island and shared it with Terry from Emeryville whom we'd met at dinner.  The west coast was fairly rugged with lots of fishing villages. The colours of the national flag are everywhere.  We headed inland and passed through plantations of nutmeg and cocoa.  Very verdant. Even after the hurricane a few years ago, everything has grown back very quickly.  Grand Etang is the area around the caldera (volcano peak) which has collapsed and is now a lake.
