Caribbean Cruise - December 2008

Bonaire

This is the 2nd largest of the five Dutch Antillean islands. Only 12 miles from Venezuela. First discovered by Amerigo Vespucci in 1499.  Slaves were brought by the Dutch to help in the production of salt (which is still produced).  The reef around the island is a national park and is protected to a depth of 200 ft which makes the island a draw for divers.

We decided to do a 'Discover Scuba' course which allows you to try out diving.
